Releases (liability waivers)

Writing releases, changing their wording, and seeing who agreed.

What is a release in LaceUp?

A release is the text a player agrees to before they play. Every version is kept, and each agreement points at the exact version that person saw.

  • An Adult release is agreed to by the player.
  • A Youth release is agreed to by a parent or guardian, who gives their name and relationship to the player.

How do I add a release?

Open Admin → Organization → Releases and fill in Add a release at the bottom.

  1. Enter a Title, such as Adult liability release.
  2. Pick Who agrees: Adult, or Youth where a parent or guardian agrees.
  3. Paste the Release text. It needs at least 50 characters.
  4. Press Create and publish version 1.

How do I change a release's wording?

Press Publish a new version on the release, edit the text, press Publish version, and confirm. Published text is never edited, so a change is always a new version.

  • People who agreed to an earlier version stay on record with that version.
  • Everyone registering from then on agrees to the new version. Events using the release need no change.
  • Version history shows every version's text and date.

How do I ask players to agree to a release?

Pick it under Liability release on a league or a tournament. Players agree to its current version when they register, and before they join a team from an invite link.

  • For a league, open it from its season's page.
  • For a tournament, pick it when you create it or in Edit Settings.
  • Only releases that are in use and have published text can be picked.

How do I see who agreed to a release?

Every event has a Releases page listing each registration and roster join with the agreement on file.

  • Tournament: press 📝 Releases on the tournament's page.
  • League: press Releases next to the league on its season's page, or Who has agreed → in the league editor.
